Christie's first crime novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introducing Hercule Poirot, was published in 1920.
In total, she wrote 80 novels. Agatha Christie is the world's best-selling author, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. An estimated billion copies of her novels have been sold in English, and another billion in 103 other languages.

Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie (1890-1976) was an English crime novelist, short story writer and playwright.
She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around
her fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote the world's longest-running play, a murder
mystery, The Mousetrap, and six romances under the name Mary Westmacott.
